Preschool Schedule
7:30-8:15 am- Drop off- free play (toys, books, music, etc.) :Learning about the way things work, cooperative play, imaginary play, literacy.
Centers open during free play include: Dramatic play, library, art,
writing materials, music, construction materials (blocks, legos)
computer center, and manipulative (play dough, puzzles, sorting games,
etc.) Toys are specifically chosen to stimulate creativity, imagination and critical thinking.
8:15-8:45 am - Breakfast, all breakfast offer milk, protein or grain, and fruit. Refer to food program information. If your child will not be here for breakfast please call by 8:15am. No breakfat is served after 8:45 am.
8:45- 9 am - Clean up/ brush teeth/ bathroom
9-9:30 am- Free Choice Our facility is set up to promote learning and growth even during free choice. The children have choices promoting self-confidence and independence.
9:30- 10am- Circle time, exercise, music Promotes listening skills and cooperation. Children have the opportunity to verbally share with others, learn about the weather and time concepts, theme of the week is discussed, songs and finger plays promote emergent literacy, letters, numbers, and shapes are explored. Exercise is incorporated as games (simon says, red light green light, mr fox, duck duck goose, etc) to teach children to take turns, follow directions, and increase their gross motor abilities in a fun and active format. Each child also have a job for the day (story time leader, circle time leader, pet helper, set
table, weather helper, etc). This teaches them responsibility, independence, confidence and team work.
10-10:30 am- Small group activities- Allows teachers to focus on educational needs of each child. Small group consist of specific activities that promote language, literacy, critical thinking, number, letter, and word recognition. Board games are also used for learning experiences during small group.
10:30-11 am- Structured Project- Encourages fine motor skills, critical thinking, planning, creativity, also incorporates the theme (this offers a hands on experience of what they are learning)
11-11: 15 am- Clean up/ Bathroom break
11:15-11:45 am- Free Choice
11:45- Noon- Clean up/ Wash hands
Noon-12:30- Lunch A protein, grain, vegetable, fruit, and milk are offered
12:30-12:40- Clean up/ Brush teeth/ Bathroom
12:40-1pm- Story time
1-3ish Nap/rest time
3-3:30pm - Free choice or Small goup
3:30-4pm- wash hands/snack
4- 4:15- Clean up/ get ready to go outside weather permitting. No rain, above 35 degrees
4:15-5:30- Recess outside!
