*There is an educational themes every month. The parents will be
given a letter at the beginning of the month letting them know what we will be learning about.
*There is also a weekly show and tell. The children are
to bring an item that begins with the given letter or is related to the
given theme. The item should be in an obscuring bag with three clues as to
what it is. A calendar will be sent home at the beginning of the month with the listed show and tells.
*A bear bag is sent home weekly to a different child. The child takes care of the bear over the weekend and writes or draws in the given journal with the parent’s help, documenting what they did with the bear.
*The daily schedule is an example of a day. It serves as a guide for our program. The schedule is flexible and activities may change. The
child’s day consist of a flexible schedule to include group and individual time,
active/quite time, indoor/outdoor play, and free and structured activities. A
variety of activities and materials are available for the children each day. The
children are continually learning throughout each activity during the
day.
* A planned curriculum is used daily. The curriculum provides a guide for the teacher to follow. The curriculum is set up to provide children with science, math, social, emotional, artistic, dramatic, fine and gross motor, listening, and cooperative skills. Each year an assessment will be preformed for each child upon the parent’s request. The assessment will show what level each child is currently at for each developmental area.
* I will meet with the parents to review the assessment and discuss any concerns and how to increase each child’s abilities. We always
incorporate kindergarten readiness for the older preschoolers.
* We also have an end of the year picnic to celebrate the graduating preschoolers where all are invited.
